Killer Windows 95
Published in Paperback by Que (October, 1995)
Average review score:

Best Resource for Win95Briefly, I have been looking for a good non-Microsoft book that will offer a critical
review of their latest OS - Win95.
I had a client with a number of problems after an upgrade and I found the answers immediatly
when I looked in the index. I then looked for other odd index topics and found reference to all
of them. Other books, including MS Press titles, did not have reference or at least the depth
that this book did.
Buy it.

A Killing in Carter Country
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (01 February, 2001)
Average review score:

GRIPPING, THOUGHT-PROVOKING THRILLERI didn't know anything from first-hand experience about the segregated South in the 1950's. This book brings the reality of that apartheid vividly to life. It is clearly written by someone who knows what he's writing about. It is also an exciting, well-written book that was impossible to put down. I read it all the way through in one sitting. Highly recommended.

A KILLING IN CARTER COUNTY
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (01 February, 2001)
Average review score:

Powerful Story of Interracial Friendship in the Deep South"A Killing in Carter County" focuses on the unlikely working relationship of a white former prosecutor and a black defense attorney as they try to work together to save a young black woman from Florida's electric chair. The story takes place in rural Carter County during the 1950's and vividly portrays the segregated society and the Jim Crow system of justice. The writer does a very good job developing the characters of Jack Hunter and Randall McNeil. Both the Southern setting and the regional dialogue have a very authentic feel. The story is compelling; the book is well-written. Actually, though it's very different in content and tone, "A Killing in Carter County" is an effective follow-up to Lawrence's other novel, "Annie's Angel."

King of the Once Wild Frontier: Reflections of a Canal Walker
Published in Paperback by Spillway Pubns (January, 1993)
Average review score:

Spellbinding! With the excellent blending of original and classic characters Dr. Schichler's American oddity is by all means a masterpiece. The reader will discover actual historical facts about the Erie Canal and One-Cane Topiltzin, while at the same time encountering brilliantly created original characters such as One-Tongue Licking and Two-Feet Walking. The story is further aided by the author's photographs of the Erie Canal and it's surrounding areas. These pictures and the creativity of Dr. Schichler generates a magical kingdom of both fantasy and reality, which causes the story to materialize into a waking dream atmosphere. The deceptive and humoris narrative will keep readers turning pages and marveling at the author's imagination.

Kodomo No Tame Ni-For the Sake of the Children: The Japanese-American Experience in Hawaii
Published in Paperback by University of Hawaii Press (October, 1980)
Average review score:

Excellent...This books is, in my opinion, the most accurate souce of information ever written on Hawaii's Japanese community. Other authors, such as Takaki, have also written excellent historical guides; however, they are usually mainland-born and don't/can't understand life in Hawaii. "Kodomo No Tame Ni" is a virtual encyclopedia of many lesser-known aspects of the Issei generation, and illustrates the past which has created the atmosphere of modern Hawaii.
Anyone interested in discovering the true past of Hawaii's Japanese (as well as Hawaii's other ethnic groups) should definitely get their hands on this collection of stories, which-- due to the growing mainland-ish "Americanization" of Hawaii-- will soon be forgotten.
In this day and age, I don't think another book of this sort will ever be written.

LA VOLATILIDAD DE LOS FLUJOS DE CAPITAL: COMO CONTROLAR SU IMPACTO EN AMERICA LATINA
Published in Textbook Binding by IDB Bookstore (May, 1996)
Average review score:

Published in Paperback by IDB Bookstore (01 September, 1997)
Average review score:

The Last Angry Principal
Published in Paperback by Halcyon House (August, 1988)
Average review score:

Can't afford to miss this one.Dr. Hurwitz uses his half-century of experience in the schools to puncture the many balloons floated by "reformers," who know little about how schools should be run--and whose alleged reforms would further ruin our faltering schools. In The Last Angry Principal, we have a great human interest story of a compassionate disciplinarian in a time of eroding standards. When--after decades of success--his policies were repeatedly first endorsed and then reversed by weak superiors, flip-flopping in the face of political pressure, he demanded more uniform decision-making, he was dismissed. A measure of his effectiveness may be that local parents barricaded him in his office, setting the stage for a confrontation that made national headlines and coverage on CBS' 60 Minutes program. The Last Angry Principal is a book that you cannot afford to miss, at a time when the "educational crisis" is seen as a top priority, not only on Capitol Hill and by all of the nation's governors, but every presidential candidate as well.
